The Wonder of Eyeries

Maureen O'Hara Classic Film Festival Comes to Eyeries



Maureen O'Hara has delighted global audiences for an entire lifetime. This year, the Eyeries Family Festival 2011 is honoured to present the Maureen O'Hara Classic Film Festival.


For three days - the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of July 2911 - Festival visitors will have the chance to see some of Ms O'Hara's most powerful performances. Many of her films - as well as those of her contemporaries - will be screened daily at the Eyeries Dance Hall.


Tickets will be available at the door.


Did you know? Maureen O'Hara lives in Glengarrif, only one hour north of Eyeries. Still a true trooper, her wonderful presense often graces the streets of that small town located only minutes from Bantry.


Getting to Eyeries

From Dublin - take the M8 to Cork. Drive thru the Jack Lynch Tunnel and follow the ring road around Cork City to the N22. Take the N22 toward Macroom. 1/2 mile before Macroom, take a left on the N78. Drive 1.5 hours to Ballylickey. Turn right. Go 5 miles to Glengarrif. Turn Left at signs for Castletownbere. Arriving in Castletownbere, take a right at the sign for Eyeries. Drive 100 yards and take a right onto the Eyeries road. Drive 4 miles. Take a left at the large sign for Eyeries.


International Travellers - can fly to Cork, Dublin and Limerick. Then take buses, trains, or car rentals to Eyeries.

Come one and come all! For the first time in 30 years, Eyeries - located on the picturesque Beara Peninsula in West Cork, Ireland - is holding a fun-filled Family Festival! Taking place from Friday 22 July 2011 - Sunday 24 July 2011, the Eyeries Family Festival 2011 is loaded with fun for all ages:

  • Treasure Hunt (11AM 1PM)

  • Food and Craft Fair (1PM - 6PM)

  • Film Festival (3 - 5PM)

  • Darts Competition at Causkeys Pub (3PM until the wee hours)

  • Ceili Music and Dancing (5 - 7PM)

  • Open Air Music with Jeremiah ger Harrington/DJ on the Street (8 - 9PM)

  • And a final closing with music from Pat Fitz
